This week at the Community Center!

May 18 – 24, 2019

Happy Friday!

This week’s big news is that the Community Center will be switching to summer hours at the beginning of June. We’ll be open Saturdays 9am – 12pm,  Wednesdays 10am – 5pm, and Thursdays and Fridays 10am – 2pm. Hot food will be available to eat here or take away. The library is open for self-service and browsing whenever the Community Center is open.

The Library is no longer opening on Sundays. Summer hours and reading program details will be coming soon…

Monday we’ll be open 9 – 5pm. As this week’s special to eat here or take away, Lauren will be serving chilli con carne and a vegetable chilli, as well as her delicious matzoh ball soup. Food is available until 5, or 5.30pm by prior arrangement. Call 257 0801 to reserve your food! We’ll also have a delicious vegetable soup with homemade bread.

On Tuesday, Strong Living will be meeting at 4pm, and Relax, Balance, then Move! at 5pm. This is a stretching and strength-building class focussing on muscle equilibrium. See our website for more details! $10 a class. All welcome.

The Film Club will be meeting at 7pm on Tuesday to show ‘Let There Be Light’ from 1946. It’s a documentary about what is now called PTSD in WW2 servicemen that was banned by the War Department for many years. The full schedule of weekly movies is on our website, or drop in to the Center to pick up a schedule.

Wednesday we’re open 12 – 5pm, and as always, we’ll have a delicious homemade vegetarian soup and bread, as well as cookies and other sweets. The internet is free and the coffee is delicious! Craft Night will be meeting in the library from 6.30 – 8pm. Craft night will be taking a break for the summer from the end of May, because we’d all really rather be crafting at the pond, right?

The last class of Melissa’s ‘Intro to Social Media Marketing’ will take place on Wednesday at 6.30pm. $15 per class. Contact for more information.

Thursday we have Strong Living at 4pm and Tai Ji at 5pm. Yoga is 6.25pm.

Morning yoga is Friday morning, 6.30 – 7.30am. There are sometimes drop-in spots available, contact Casey Deane for more info. The Center will be open 12 – 5pm on Friday.

Save the date for Wednesday, May 29, 7pm. The Library will be hosting a discussion of the book ‘Educated’, by Tara Westover. The discussion will be led by Bronwyn Tate, fabulous professor of writing at Marlboro College and is open to everyone. Bring a snack to share if you feel like it, tea will be provided.

Our current open hours are Monday 9 – 5pm, Wednesdays and Fridays 12 – 5pm and Saturdays 9am -12. The library is open whenever the Community Center is. We’ll be switching to summer opening hours as of June 1.

The Center is available for use by groups, or for private events. Please email us for more information or pop in for a chat during our open hours.
