About the event
On August 17th come put your dancing shoes on and enjoy live music under the stars at the Marlboro Community Center! The Summer Concert features local jazz quartet The Woodpeckers. The Woodpeckers joyfully play early Swing of the era from 1910 to 1930. In a highly improvisatory, good-humored, spontaneous, danceable, conversational and interactive style they interpret the exhilarating music of that time, when jazz was being born and was embraced and celebrated by young and old.
The quartet includes Ron Kelley; tenor sax, Walter Slowinski; clarinet, Mark Anagnostopulos; rhythm guitar, and Marlboro’s own Ty Gibbons on upright bass and percussion. All members sing. Concert time is 7:00 P.M., admission $12 per person/$25 per family. Outdoors, weather permitting, otherwise inside the Community Center.
Bring a picnic or have a bowl of chili prior to the concert. Starting at 5:30, there will be a Chili Supper provided by the MCC. Donations appreciated! And, take a chance on the 50/50 Raffle! Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20! Winner splits the jackpot with the Marlboro Community Center.
Concert Ticket donations are $12 each or $25 per family. The event will be held rain or shine - outside or inside depending on the weather. If outside, bring along a lawn chair.
